Dear Dr. Swartz,
You were completely right. The step 2cs exam is game that needs to be played and has minimal to do with medical knowledge. You just need to learn to listen and show some American style empathy toward some actors who, despite some reports, are not out to get you.
The C3NY course, although painful at times for a neurosurgical trainee, prepared me more than adequately. I passed all components easily including the CIS component.
My advice to international medical graduates is to disregard most of the books out there, disregard question lists, spend 3 days in NYC, and do this course a few days prior to the exam.
Best wishes,
David Oehme, M.D., Australia
